The motive is good but the execution could have been better. Jabariya Jodi, though long and lacking good songs, Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra put their best foot forward in a film that has several hilarious moments but an inconstant pace. So yeah, JJ has its crests as well as troughs.

Parineeti Chopra is in her patakha comfort zone and hence could have got complacent, but the Babli of Jabariya Jodi holds herself back and does not allow her performance to go OTT. Sidharth, who needed to deviate here from his usual quintessential aptly-dressed boy, is satisfactory.

To play the devil's advocate, you take home the message (against groom kidnapping prevalent in Bihar and neighbouring areas) that is delivered and do not feel that it was hammered into you at any point. But wonder why the pilot Prashant Singh (director) had to make a rough landing when he had Ekta Kapoor (producer) with him who hasn't compromised on neither the aircraft nor the runway's making (production values). Ponder a while. So yeah, you now know who erred.

Aur haan, Sanjay Mishra is really getting a bit too much in-the-face- wonder which film he's not doing! Javed Jaaferi in perhaps his longest role till date is fine. Wonder why was Sharad Kapoor brought in?

And aha! Aparshakti Khurana needs to immediately come out of his brother Ayushmann's shadow, he looks a carbon copy of Ayushmann but makes no effort to not act like him.

I am going with Two-and-Half.
